When I heard about this book, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it and have my high school sophomore read it. Leadership and Soft Skills for Students is an outstanding book that helps students develop the soft, fluid skills required for success. This is an excellent resource and one that should be on the shelves of every high school and college student in America.
With expectations for today’s youth constantly on the rise, it’s helpful to take a step back and look at how youth are being prepared to meet those expectations. We want young people to do well, but without the necessary tools and skills, many are bound to fail. Through his extensive experience teaching, advising, mentoring, and supervising young people, author Cary J. Green, PhD reached a powerful conclusion: young people are limited more by lack of success skills than by their intelligence.
Dr. Green’s Leadership and Soft Skills for Students: Empowered to Succeed in High School, College and Beyond offers practical advice and insight to help young people develop leadership and “soft skills” to empower success in high school and beyond. He emphasizes that having “brains” is not enough; young people need leadership and soft skills to get the ob done, no matter the job. Dr. Green describes three key steps for developing these skills: knowing what you need to know, developing the abilities and behaviors you need, and having an attitude of achievement.
