Oatmeal Month: Recipe Roundup

It’s National Oatmeal Month

There are so many great uses for oatmeal other than just as a breakfast cereal. There are vaiations of oatmeal cookies, oat grain breads, muffins, etc.  Oatmeal month is your opportunity to break out of the mold and try oatmeal a new way for breakfast or try a new dessert using this grain.

How did Oatmeal Month come to be?  It could be because we buy more oats in January than at any other time of the year.  The Whole Grains Council celebrates another staple from the worlds grain supply each month and they selected January as Oatmeal Month.

This week for Foodie Friday, we are doing a recipe roundup and featuring some of our favorite breakfast recipes from across the web.  On January 20th, we will be featuring another recipe roundup, this time concentrating on desserts using oatmeal.

Break out of the mold and try your oatmeal in a new way.  Enjoy a nice hot breakfast on these cold winter mornings.
