Refresh with Harney & Sons Tea

green_tea_2Summer is here in full swing and that means hotter temps for most of the country.  Here at our house, the go to refreshment beverage is either ice tea or lemonade or a combination of both for a sweet Arnold Palmer.

One of our favorite tea lines is Harney & Sons.  It’s a magnificent line of high-end teas manufactured in the US.
For 3 generations these guys have been producing fine bagged and loose leaf tea. The fine flavors are made from pure ingredients sourced from around the world.

One of my absolute favorites from this company is their Green Tea.  All green teas originate from the same species, the Camelia Sinensis. To make green tea, the fresh tea leaves are briefly cooked using either steam or dry heat. This process fixes the green colors and fresh flavors. The Chinese green teas are more mellow and smooth, while the Japanese green teas have the heft of rich, vegetal flavors, which comes from a preservation of the chlorophyll. The general rule is that a cup of green tea contains about one-third as much caffeine as a cup of coffee. Green tea production methods vary but the focus is always to fix the green color. Thus, green teas are not oxidized. Harney & Sons carefully selects their green teas from the best tea leaf fields in China and Japan. Enjoy!

The family business sells its tea online as well as in luxury shops, coffee shops and retailers around the world! Check out the full line of Harney & Sons products at
