We love games as much as we love books. If you combine the two and have a game which involves reading and vocabulary, we are “beyond the moon” with excitement. Thanks to Blue Orange games for introducing us to their Super Genius Reading I and Compound Words games.
This reading matching game focuses on the Dolch list of the most common sight words from children’s reading books, and helps prepare early readers for more complicated language skills to come. There is always a match between any two cards. Find the pair between a word and its image, two images or two words.
Developed hand-in-hand with learning professionals, this Super Genius game was specifically created with early learners in mind.
Pick a cooperative rule or race to be the first to find a match. There are endless ways to learn while having fun at the same time. This game was created to give kids the reading tools they need to excel through the various stages of their learning process.
Recommended for ages 6 and up. Game can be played with 1 to 6 players.
Encourages your little genius to further develop their reading skills through learning compound words! Half of the cards feature compound words and the other half contain either single images corresponding to those words or image equations that add up to the compound words. There is always one – and only one- match between any two cards.
Recommended for ages 8 and up. Game can be played with 1 to 6 players.
We had our test group of kids age 5 – 12 play around with these games and they loved playing them solo as well as in a group. One of the moms in the parenting review group is a first-grade teacher and couldn’t wait to add this game to her classroom for the upcoming school year. Another mom works as a reading tutor to help children struggling with their reading skills. She as well felt this was a great learning tool to teach kids of all abilities to read better.
