Welcome to COSI – the Center of Science and Industry

With new traveling exhibitions, giant screen films, and Planetarium shows there’s always something new to enjoy at COSI.  And what better way to combine science learning and fun than COSI?

COSI has been around for more than 52 years, first opening in 1964.  Over the years we’ve engaged with 34 million people through visits here in the building and through our popular outreach education programs like COSI on Wheels.  Did you know that the first time campers spent the night for a formalized program at a science museum was in 1972 during our Camp-In program?

COSI has more than 300 hands-on exhibits combining science learning and fun.  Make sure you pick up a daily show sheet so you don’t miss our live shows like the hair-raising electrostatic generator show, our thrilling rat basketball shows or the explosive shows in our Gadgets Stage. We also have the country’s only high-wire unicycle and little kidspace®, an exhibition area especially for kids not yet in second grade.  little kidspace is a great place for your young child to safely climb, slide, build, splash, imagine, explore and pretend.

We can’t wait for what’s around the corner at COSI! If you haven’t heard, COSI is currently undergoing some improvements in our parking area.  Work has started on the underground COSI parking garage and new park, funded by the City of Columbus.  The new park will feature playgrounds, water elements, and a café.  We’re looking forward to the underground parking garage opening later this fall and the park opening in February of 2018.

Construction has started for two new incredible exhibition areas at COSI: The American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) Dinosaur Gallery and The American Museum of Natural History Exhibition Gallery.  These galleries will occupy 22,000 square feet on COSI’s first floor with the new permanent Dinosaur Gallery exhibited to open in late 2017 and the Exhibition Gallery expected to open in early 2018.  The Dinosaur Gallery will include AMNH’s iconic dinosaur artifacts and interactive experiences for which the preeminent institution is known worldwide.  The Exhibition Gallery will host a wide variety of temporary exhibitions organized by AMNH.

COSI has a big year coming up!  Don’t miss out on the chance to challenge your brain and have lots of fun.
